About the Warner Grand Theatre

Rumors say the theater is HAUNTED! Strange things have happened while we have spent time there.

The Warner Grand Theatre is a lavish, art-deco theater opened to the public on January 20, 1931 during the magical decades for films in the 1920s and 1930s.  Jack Warner called it "The Castle of Your Dreams." The Warner Grand Theatre was designed by architect B. Marcus Priteca and interior designer A.T. Heinsbergen.  Mr. Priteca designed three lavish art-deco palaces which were located in San Pedro, Beverly Hills, and Huntington Park.  The Warner Grand is the last of the three original theaters left intact and has been undergoing gradual refurbishment after a thirty-year decline.  Priteca later designed Hollywood's famous Pantages Theater.

The Grand Vision Foundation completed an ambitious seat restoration campaign and is planning more important restoration activities, including painting walls to their original style and colors, occasional chandelier repairs. Please consider joining Grand Vision Foundation and supporting the preservation of the historic Warner Grand Theatre (see links).

Directions to the Theatre and Parking

The Theatre is located at 478 West 6th Street in San Pedro, just "below" Pacific and 6th Street intersection.  Metered parking [FREE after 5 p.m. and free all day Sunday] is available on 6th Street and also in a well-lit outdoor lot on 7th street, just "below" Pacific. This lot has a direct cut-through to the Warner Grand Theatre and provides ideal and ample parking.  Many theater patrons choose to park near Think Cafe, The Whale and Ale, Papadakis Taverna, and Neil's - and walk two blocks with other diners before and after their theater outing.
